I have to use PC, but I’m a Mac

Filed under: 知道也無妨, 真的在動 - karenkuo @ 11:03 pm

What’s wrong with ‘I’m a PC’ campaigns?
How much money is microsoft willing to make on stupid commercials and ad campaigns?
the answer is probably till they finally go bankrupt.

let’s review some of the commercials that microsoft has so desperately put out on the air to retaliate against Apple’s “I’m a Mac” campaign.

New Family - Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates Ad
Microsoft Jerry Seinfeld Bill Gates Shoe Circus Commercial
the newly retired Bill Gates and the hasn’t been so funny for so long’s Jerry Seinfeld, big money wasted on these 2 ‘big stars’. No message was sent out by either of these commercials other than microsoft is a big company that has lots of money but never spend it on what they should be working on, like fixing Vista. At least they got a used to be big star standing behind their product.

“I’m a PC” (we are the world)
I’m a PC: Not Alone
I’m a PC: Stereotype
I’m a PC

so, 2 big shot person is not enough for you? how about we show u a world of PC users?! yes, this is probably the best version out of all the “I’m a PC” commercials. but after the 10th person yelled out “I’m a PC” (and after viewing the commercial for the 3rd time) u get tired of the “hollywood grand” effect. and then start re-asking yourself the question. so what if you are a PC. I’m a PC user too. and i still faces unexpected program crashes and blue screens dozens of times a day. This commercial just tells the world out loud that 80% of the people in the world are PC users and you don’t have a choice. You should stick to it like those famous or popular or important people do.

“I’m a PC” (the kid version)
I’m a PC and I’m 4 and a half

by now, u probably should realize how much money microsoft has and how they are not afraid to make million dollar mistakes openly. and then, the commercial shifted. they hire young kids to shoot their commercials for them. (Yeah, hiring 100+ extras for a single commercial doesn’t work. we’ll put a 4 year old angel with a cute face. people certainly will get sucker in) oh yes! the kid is cute. and there are other versions will an elder girl and boy (let’s throw in all gender and all age to see which one sticks), they are all CUTE. but they are still forgetting people do have PC. half of the PC population can’t do what the 4.5 year old girl just did and do u know what it makes them feel? stupid and upset. and then they will think the commercial is a lie (which is 90% true).

Word of the wise to microsoft. please remember who are u selling your “commercials” to. Yes. PC is popular and everyone knows that. Brand awareness (popularity) is never microsoft’s problem (their problem is to have people switch and adapt to Vista, and then go buy new machine in September again for Window’s 7). 70% of the world probably still never heard of Apple or have ever used an Apple before and they are content with what they have, which is a PC. but do you really just want to throw in millions of dollars just to keep the content people happy?

i probably should spend more time revise and re-word this post. with the chance of sounding like a “New Media Douchebags“, but with my killing neck pain and pain killers kicking in, i just want to get this out and ask PC users of the world, “What can PC put in a commercial to fix your crashing problem and make you happy again?”

I’m not so happy with my mac recently. but i’m furious with PC.

I’m a Mac :Bake Sale (2008)

this was made before the “I’m a PC” were out. don’t think mac need to put out any more commercials for “I’m a Mac” series for a while. maybe wait till windows 7 is out and then make one commercial just to pleases the communities out there.

That’s all for tonight!

New Media Douchebag, OUT!

  1. Hey~! So I’m here to bitch about the “I’m a PC” commercials. Here’s my reactions following the order of YouTube clips you put up there:
“Duh, do they know about branding? Aren’t they supposed to make their targeted consumers feel they are unique? Those people in the commercial could be anyone on the street! (except for those Hollywood stars, who don’t seem to be tech savvy at all) That’s not attractive to me personally. If they want to show everyone’s using it, why don’t they go around the world and shot the commercial? This is just lame and insincere.”

“Vat!!? PC used a 4-and-a-half year old girl in their commercial!? This is disgusting and unethical! I don’t think many parents would be too happy to see this. Imagine if this little girl can import, edit, and share the photos at that age, what will happen when she is 12? She might already know how to write codes and live a life of a PC geek. Microsoft probably wish all children will grow up like that with a PC mindset! Come on, life isn’t just dealing with the digitized world! Kids should read books! Go outside kicking balls and riding bikes! They should learn by playing and should only learn how to use a computer when they need it! Next time Microsoft probably will train a dog how to use a PC.”

    “Hahaha…”

I think I don’t need to say no more.

but after a while.. it sounds like.. I’m pissing…
and the 4th person in the commercial kinda looks like you…hahaha
“i wear glasses~” …and the red sweater.. all you!
I don’t care for PC or Apple!
They’ll eventually join together and take more of our hard earned money.
who cares~ As long as I have internet.. i’m happy
